A favorite designer of mine: Sonia Delaunay

I love how graphic she is and her eye for colors.  It really wasn't until 

I came across her work that I really started to play with color and break away from

the traditional idea of "which colors compliment one another"

She was one of the co-founders of Orphism Art Movement, which was known for their

geometric shapes and strong uses of color.

The other day I came across my Gloria Vanderbilt Book of Collage! I haven't looked through this book in at least a couple years, and oh what a gem.  The reason why I love this book so much is because it is not your typical book on a famous fashion designer: Them in their living space, sitting in each room with their dogs, lounging by the pool etc.  Don't get me wrong, I love to see a fashion designer - or really any one for that matter in their living space, and I will continue to buy their books, BUT what sets this book apart from the others is that it is all about her love for collage and her process! If you can find it on amazon, ebay or where ever - do get it, it will inspire you to collage in a new way!

She has quite a few collages of Queen Mary and Elizabeth throughout the book.  Also, these collages are tiny on my blog but they are actually life size in person! 

lastly,  I came across this cute shop on etsy : Hippie Kingdom the owner lives in India.  I love how the most humblest things can be made into some really great accessories.  Her use of newspaper/hemp/metallic thread and tin foil is fantastic. This would also be such a fun activity to do with pre-teens and teens.

+ I am tired... it is a little bit passed midnight...but I am going to pretend it is still Thursday.

+ If you have been reading my blog for more than a year then you will remember my winter character Bjorn the Woodsman.  + He is one of my favorites. I plan to make some paper-mache sculptures of him here soon...Below Bjorn are pics I saw online today of some Holiday windows back in New York....That righteously inspired me to make a little vignette of Bjorn and his daily tasks while out in the woods.  There is an apt. that Jesse and I are waiting to hear back from and if all goes well and we get to move in...the living room has PERFECT eye level windows for me to do my very own holiday window displays!!!! Oh I hope sooo badly we get into this place!  It is crazy how many BEAUTIFUL old homes there are here in SLC to rent/own.  Plus they are insanely affordable...well, compared to New York...

My friend Juidiith Clawson showed me the latest cover of Pier 1 Imports catalog last week! Such a great cover, no?  Juidiith was saying how this would make a great Halloween costume, I couldn't agree more.

I love drawing foxes. period. nuff said. 

   But I also like paper mache foxes!  I made this "Fantastic Mr. Fox" last year in commemoration of Fantastic Mr. Fox coming out and for my first dinner party I threw out here in Utah. 

I was so in love with how he turned out that I decided I needed to make a mantel for him to hang above.  So I made a paper-mache fire place mantel as well.  One of my favorite craft projects thus far!

Gosh I LOVE fall and nature! That wreath above the mantel was easily made

from twigs just tied together and simply hung. Then I took my red maple leaves that I had collected and dried days prior and glue-guned a tiny drop of glue on the twigs and stuck the leaves on.  So simple and delicate.  It was great for last years fall...

Today has been a crazy day at work! I love crazy days at work, and especially this day....for you see.... I received a thank you email from the editor [Summer Bellessa] of Eliza Magazine earlier today saying thanks for my illustration! :) Thanks Again Summer for the opportunity to be in your magazine...AND an issue with Tatyana Ali on the cover! HOLLA! Fresh Prince of Bel Air!!! <- Love that show! If you have never heard of Eliza magazine, I suggest you go to your nearest Barnes & Noble and pick one up! This magazine has really fantastic fashion spreads which says a whole lot, because I feel now-a-days there isn't a large selection of American magazines that #1. I want to buy & #2. Buy and then tear pages from to use as inspiration. Eliza truly is a fantastic fashion/art/design magazine...and no, I am not just saying this because I am in their recent issue...I just learned of this magazine months ago and was bummed I hadn't known about it earlier!

Interesting news: High fashion model Karen Elson has turned her attention towards music! Models turned something else always raises a brow for me... BUT, Mrs. Elson's [she is Jack White's wife FYI...Jack White of the White Stripes] new album is sure to impress! I have just taken a listen to her song The Ghost Who Walks and I am IN LOVE! She's got talent! She reminds me a little bit of Mazzy Star

So here is my finished painting that I donated to The Uintah Art Fundraiser that happened Thursday night at Uintah Elementary school. I ammm happy with it, BUT I realized why I was having major issues with this painting.. it was due to the scale. I haven't painted something this large in a loooooooong time! So I need to get back on top of my game I guess... :/


At the fundraiser, they were selling the students works of art... I didn't get to go to event, which I am soooo bummed about, but I did get to help set up a bit with my boss Allison, and got a sneak peak at some of the goods being sold by the kids. Check out these two AMAAAAAAAZING broaches that I got!!! I wore the left one out yesterday! AH! Seriously, so cute! One more reason why I can't wait to have kids....so I can put em to work and have them make me TONS & TONS OF LOOT!!!! WOOOO HOO!!! ;) hehehe lol j/k
