Today is a special day for Jesse and I. Two years ago we got married, and so far so good. The saying "time flies when you're having fun" is very true, and I'm grateful to have found someone to have a blast with for the rest of my life. Now, I don't want to lead you to believe that our marriage is sooo perfect [I think i've talked about this before?] because it's not. Plain & Simple. We both have our strengths and weaknesses and we are pretty good about owning those, acknowledging them when the time is right [in "heated" discussions] and helping each be better and learning from our mistakes. I've said it many times and I'll say it again....but Jesse has the most patience out of anyone i've ever met. And I know 100% without a doubt that God sent me to him for just that trait a lone! Because of my upbringing and the un-glamorous habits/baggage? it left me with and that i'm constantly trying to overcome...with Jesse's help, in already 2 short years i've seen major improvements within myself. This is what marriage is all about, and thankfully this time around I am with someone who is on the same team as me and I on his! Jesse Man ohhh Jesse Man...I love you so much! Happy 2 years! xo

Continuing my love for bloggers:
Lena, is definitely hands down one of my very favorite designers. Those who know me pretty well know that I reference her a lot and love to tell you about my short summer I spent as her intern. I really looked up to Lena then, and still do to this day... obviously I can't say enough good things about Lena but one of my favorite things about her is the attention to detail and the exquisite craftsmanship she exudes....and on top of that she is so very gracious, witty, and calming. A handful of times she has blogged about my items w/out me knowing and I appreciate that so much, thank you Lena! :) xo
Lena, has two very beautifully curated blogs: Lena Corwin & Wee Textile. Both favorites and the kind that doesn't leave you feeling worse about yourself? I mention this because the past year i've had multiple conversations with different friends about how there seems to be this influx of blogs that are all about conspicuous consumption in fashion, decor, accessories, "perfect" families etc. and some of these friends [sometimes myself included] avoid most blogs all together... they're obviously not going away, but to that I say: seek out the blogs that don't leave you with that feeling. Only read the ones that inspire & encourage you to be creative, to be better than your yesterday self, that spark curiosity in positive ways. Lena's blogs do that for me...she really has helped me become a better curator of my life.
These photographs she took of her home are on Wee Textile

also loved what you have said about lena's blog it is one i always return to. so true about the feeling some blogs leave you with.
lucky you interning with her! yay!!
enjoy your week x
Happy anniversary!
I echo your sentiment about the trend of "conspicuous consumption" in the blog world. I think that's why I enjoy your blog so much!
I realized I recognized Lena's name from somewhere but couldn't quite place it... after a little digging, I saw the connection with Jenny Gordy of Wiksten (check her out if you're not already familiar - she's very talented).
Happy Anniversary lady!

Yep, her blogs are gems in the blogosphere huh! :)
Abby, Thank you! :-[) Two years...wadda bweeez :) lol j/k
I am really glad THANKFUL actually that my blog doesn't come across that way. Seriously...this is one thing that I heavily monitor... :/
I know of Jenny Gordy because of Lena's blog! :-[) She is a special one too and such a thoughtful and sincere writer....love her work!
Saer - Thank you so much! :) xo
Two years is so great! Year 3 was (unpredictably) a big year for my marriage - it's like we entered a new level of relational intimacy... hard to explain! We are on year 5 now, and it's really amazing to look back and see how our love has evolved, yet we still are delighted and amazed that we get to be with each other for the rest of our lives! We had a relatively long courtship, so this is actually our 9th year together! It only gets better! Hooray for love and marriage!
thank you so much roxy! this sweet post was a lovely surprise. i love your work and your blog– and i'm so glad we got to know each other when you lived here.
You and Jesse are in my top favorite couples :) Happy Anniversary, and thank you for that great paragraph about blogs. I rarely surf blogs anymore and have taken a break from my own for some of those very reasons. I love that you're promoting blogs that inspire you this way :)
Hope your anniversary was AWESOME! Thought about you all day. What an amazing duo you are! And I agree, I really like these blogs and do find inspiration from them. You are a generous friend, Roxy. I love how you're not afraid to give the spotlight to others!
Lena, you are very welcome! I meant every word! I'm glad we got to know each other a little too... :) xo
Sarah, you're so sweet and Thank you for the Anniversary wishes! I also really appreciate that YOU appreciated what I had to say about the "blog" thing. Gosh, I have SOOO much to say about all of that but have to be choosy with words as not to offend anyone while also being real about what's going on. It seems to be something that is either not acknowledged because it goes unnoticed or because it's just not popular to go against what is so popular... :/
Mom, thank you! We had a great Anniversary and were so grateful you could stay with Harley. He loves you!! :-[) I definitely don't want to be afraid with giving the spotlight to others, especially when i've had it on me so often...and sometimes unnecessarily often... :/
